Dear Roger:
Congratulations, you are making decisions that will further your education and enhance your future.
Are you wondering how you will pay for your college education? The Financial Aid Office would like to assist you.
The first step in applying for financial aid is to complete a 25/26 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA application is required for students interested in federal and state financial aid as well as need based scholarships. Federal and State aid includes grants, work-study programs, and student/parent loans. For best results follow these steps:
1. You and your parent need to create an FSA ID. An FSA ID is a username and password that you must use to log into certain U.S. Department of Education (ED) websites. Your FSA ID identifies you as someone who has the right to access your own personal information on ED websites such as the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) web site.
It is important to understand that the student and parent may not share an FSA ID. Your FSA ID is your signature, so it has to be unique to you. You and your parent will each need your own FSA ID. Create your FSA ID at studentaid.gov.
2. After you and your parent have created an FSA ID, submit your FAFSA application at studentaid.gov.
When completing the FAFSA, use the IRS Data Tool Retrieval (DRT) process to populate you/your parent’s tax data. This may also reduce additional information the Financial Aid Office may request from you.
3. Monitor your campus email and your myPSC portal on a regular basis.
We recommend that you complete the 25/26 FAFSA as soon as possible. To ensure that you are considered for all federal and state aid, submit your 25/26 FAFSA by the June 25, 2026 priority filing deadline.
